Wow!! As I sit to type about my last golf lesson and the things I've been doing the last few weeks, I suddenly realized that it's the end of the month...where did July go?
July is my favorite month of the year and that is why I love summer so much.
July is also my birth month. I am like a kid at Christmas when it comes to my birthday.
This year I had planned an adventurous birthday trip to Belize. This is one of the dozens of places I would love to visit. But because of some unorganized people I didn't get to go to Belize but instead went to Miami and a cruise over to the Bahamas. Not exactly what I had planned but it was still a great birthday trip/vacation. My girlfriend, Tamesha and I went together to share our birthday today (as we did last year). Her birthday is two days after mine.
We left on Sunday afternoon heading for South Beach to get our party on. We started off a little slow on Sunday, traveling and all but made up on Monday. We hung out by the pool sipping cocktails, reflecting on the accomplishments, disappoints and things we must change for the upcoming year. After being in Miami for two days, I realized that I must take up a Spanish class. Everywhere we would go, someone would walk up to me and start speaking Spanish. The waitress at Chili's told me that I look like a puerto rican, assuming I can speaking Spanish. This is will be one of my new year resolutions for the new year. In case you don't know, I think of my birth date, as my new year, because it's another year older and starting a new year with a new birth date. My sister says it's like a national holiday because not only me, but other folks too, take off from work and travel with me for my new year.
So here is it, July 28 and I'm thinking were did this month go. Last time I looked it was 4th of July weekend and we were hanging out at Carla's and now the month is gone. Maybe I was having to much fun....
But anyway, it's over, and I've had yet another great birthday and I'm so thankful to be healthy and able to see another birthday!!! Some folks are not so lucky.
I'm thinking next year of throwing myself a birthday party. I wanted to wait until I turned the big 4 0, but was thinking why wait, I might not live that long. As they say.... life is short, and I'm a definite believer in that.
Until next time....

Finally, A Good Golf Lesson
Today, was lesson 6, (I think), because I didn't comment on last week's lesson because it was a complete disaster. Bruce was so frustrated last week that he changed the entire focus and we went inside and started from a different angle. Which I must say worked.
This morning I got up not feeling like doing nothing. I didn't want to get out of bed, and I didn't feel like going for my lesson today. But it turned out to be the best lesson yet!! I got more compliments from Bruce today then I ever, since I meet him almost two months ago.
He changed his focus from a full swing to a pitch. And what that means, is the stroke is short. It's like putting. I have found this to be much more comfortable and easier for me to maintain the stroke that he is looking for. And I am bending my wrist less on every strok.
The unique thing about Matt Swanson school of golf, is that during the lesson there is a swing analysis that records your swing and you can actually see what you are doing right and wrong. Really neat. I have attached a copy of the link for you to see, let me know what you think.

Today, we went out to the bunker, as they call it, and practiced my pitch, which is what I learned last week and what video is of. I must say that today was the first time I felt like I was learning game. All before, I wasn't sure if I was grasping this sport, but because Bruce is a pro golfer, and an excellent instructor, he came with a different approach and I think it's working. Also another factor is that I went out and practiced yesterday as well...yes on the 4th of July, I was at the driving range by 8:30 am! I promised myself that I have to get out and practice the game if I am going to get good at this or try and play with other people. So this week I need to practice at least twice before my next lesson on Friday.
