I have decided to pick up a hobby, a new hobby that is. I have hobbies, shopping, traveling and reading, but I decided that I needed a hobby with some structure. Most adults have hobbies, like fishing, painting, scrap booking, etc, and I realized that I don't really have one that is common. So I decided that I would take up golf. Yes I said golf, for those of you who know me, you are probably thinking this is not for Stacey. But yes, I have put my mind to it and I took my first golf lesson today, early this morning at that. My first lesson was at 8:00am this morning, and for those of you who know me, know that was intirely to early for me to be functioning, but I did it and was on time.
I am taking golf lessons at the Wildcat Golf Club, Matt Swanson's School of Golf, http://www.swingpure.com/Default.aspx. My instructor, Bruce Olsen, http://www.swingpure.com/About/Bios/Wildcat/BruceOlsen.aspx, was highly recommended because of his many many years of experience and he is one of the Senior Instructors at the school.
So I arrive a few minutes early because for one, I am excited and two, I want to be on time because these classes are not cheap and I want to get my monies worth. I was thinking that we would go out on the course, so I went and purchased golf shoes and a few golf outfits because I didn't want to look like I was a rookie or something. So at exactly 8:00am Bruce walks in ready to go. We stayed inside today and started with the basic of holding the club and swing. After an hour of doing this, if feels if though I have been outside for hours. Everything hurts on me, my back (mostly), my legs, my knees, and my hands. And I am sweating really bad. Too much to say that I am inside.
Bruce says I did already for my first lesson. He suggested that I purchase a yard stick and not a club, to practice my swing and grip. I find it a little odd but he is the pro not me and this is why I am paying him the big bucks so I can become good at this.
I will keep you posted on my next lesson which is on Thursday, June 5 @ 4:00pm.
Let me hear from you, tell me your thoughts.

Count Down to My Birthday !!!!
I have about a month and a half until my favorite day of the year, my BIRTHDAY!! It's my favorite day of the year and some say it's like a National Holiday because I always do something to celebrate. Well this year we are celebrating my birthday in Belize. I have always wanted to travel to Belize and now I am getting the opportunity. Myself, alone with my closest friends will be celebrating my birthday on July 22 in Belize on the island of Ambergris Caye at the Sueno del Mar (Discover Belize) resort. www.dreambelize.com It's a group of six and we will be spending 4 nights/5 days on this beautiful island.
So now I am concentrating on losing weight. Over the past 6 months I have gained more weight and I am now at my heaviest I have early been in my life....and it's no fun. So starting today I am on a mission to lose 15-20 pounds before the BIG trip.
My first big step is to remove the sodas out of my diet and start drinking water in the place of the sodas. Then exercise and more exercise. I also need to watch my food intake, esp my salt.
Today I did a few jumping jacks, 50 sit ups and did the hoola hoop with my 3 year old until I was tired.
I need help and motivation at this point. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please let me know.
Until then..........

The 5K Run/Walk

Well the day finally came and I completed my first 5K Run/Walk!! I am so proud of myself. I know you are probably wondering if I ran the complete 3 miles....well, of course not. I was not in that good of shape to do that! :) However, I did complete the run and did not come in last, that's for sure. I completed the run in 51 mins which was great since I had only started working out two weeks before the race. (lazy)
I have to give credit to my two best friends, Tamesha and Tanisha, who not only encouraged me but pushed me to finish as well. It was a lot of fun and we are doing it again in June, Father's Day weekend. So I'll keep you posted.
