The Count Down Begins Today....

This is my first time blogging..if that's the correct term. A good friend of mine peaked my interest and I thought this would be a good way family and friends can keep up with me as well.

So it begins today, day one, the beginning of a three month training process to not only help me lose weight but to also prepare to run in a 5K. My good friend invited me to run/walk in the Sprint for Like 5K on May 3. (http://www.mdanderson.org/Featured_Sites/Sprintforlife/) I thought it is a good cause and I need to get in shape. It's been years since I have actual exercise and after having my daughter two years ago, I really got lazy with exercising.

So today was the day to start a routine and the count down to the race for a cure. My girlfriend, Jackie and I decided we would join the gym as the first step to our training for our walk/run in May. After watching Oprah we felt that we could conquer the world of fitness. I think it's so funny that after watching Oprah how one wants to get up and do something. She has a very powerful affect over people and I wonder if she realize that. So after watching Oprah and her trainer we get up off the couch and head to the gym. We meet with the Sales Manager and sign up. I don't know how long my girlfriend, Jackie is going to stick with it but I am determined to lose weight. I look and feel fat!! And I'm not getting any younger and I promised myself that I would live longer than mother and in order to do that I need to take care of myself and exercise is very important alone with eating right.

I told myself what I was going to do different this year that I didn't do last year. I guess some call it New Year's Resolution. One was to go back to work full time working in my profession and the second was to lose weight by any means necessary. I told Jackie I was not going to be the fat one of the group. And what I meant by that was, she has had weight loss surgery, our other friend has had lipo, and Rosalie just look good anyway. So I don't want to be the fat one of the group and besides I love the beach and my sister is getting married this summer so I want to be extra fine. It's a new year.....and my motto for this year is, GREAT IN '08.

So tomorrow is the first day of my training. We are meeting up at the gym at 9:00 am. I'll let you know how that goes. Until then....peace and hair grease.
